Well I'm tired of the wondering on the road, and the inability to turn in certain situations, so I'm looking into a crossover steering setup for my 10bolt. I can get the parts from Sky mfg. for around $400, but I need a 2wd steering box & pass. side flat top knuckle. They will swap me an unmachined one(knuckle) for one cut & tapped for $40. I need to look into what I get for the $400, I can make the crossover tie-rod, and can have the arm made also for a lot less.

I'm with you! $400.00 sounds like a lot. A few months ago there was a set of high steer arms on PS for $75, I found a guy on ebay that wants (I think $50-60 per arm.

There are a few parts to it- Pitman arm - $55(might be able to get used J.Y. one) Steering arm - $150 And the long drag link - $95(not including ends) Link ends - $100/set(H.D. Spicer ends) I plan on searching for the best price over the winter, as this will be a summer job.

I am not sure If it will work but the older FSj's use a GM steering box, and if you get a stock pitmen arm off of a 1993 or newer grand Cherokee it has a about a 4" drop on it. ;D Not sure if any of this will work for your truck, but hey it maybe worth checking into.

Hew thanks I didn't know that!! I have to get the same king of box, they made two diff. fittings. I think they switched around 81-82?? And yes I will need a drop pitman arm!! I also think I will get a new steering shaft - something with ujoints. Or make on like I did with my '77 Dodge- slip shaft from a cherokee & ujoints top & bottom...

That looks like the one. I will have to see it in person, and check the fittings. I will have to look into it, but I think the FSJ pitman arm will work. But I believe a drop one will be better - less chance of the tie rod/crossmember hitting.

ok so now I'm looking. I need a 2wd steering box for an older chevy - pre '80. I have someone who will machine the knuckles for me. And I am leaning towards getting the "kit" from Skymfg...
